1 bag of spinach leaves
1 1/4 stick of butter
1 package of filo dough sheets
1 medium size onion
1 package Halloum cheese
1/2 package of feta cheese
1 table spoon of “habet el barakeh” aka black carway
1 egg

Cooking directions:

  • Chop spinach
  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Heat 1/4 stick of butter in a pan
  • Add onions and fold until golden
  • Add spinach
  • Liquefy remaining butter
  • Grease the bottom of a 9×12 inch oven deep tray
  • place the filo dough one layer at a time. covering each layer with butter until half the filo is in the pan
  • place the spinach, cheese, and 1/2 the baraka seeds (black carway) onto the layered dough
  • continue adding remaining dough
  • cut the dough into 3 x 5 rectangular pieces
  • whisk the egg, and spread over the dough
  • Place remaining baraka seeds over the dough
  • Place in the a preheated oven on 375 until the top is golden (30 min)
