I was at home, Razan was over with her kids for a playdate. My heart raced at 108 for 10 minutes. Within a few minutes, the paramedics were testing my vital signs; they placed me on stretcher and took me into the ambulance. Razan was looking at me with such compassion, all I could think of is how blessed I am to have such a wonerful friend. She stayed behind with the kids, the ambulance took me to Fairfax hosptial. I was stabalized and discharged the same evening. Dr. Esposito expressed dismay because he was unaware that I was taking Amidoran. He prescribed a new beta blocker which I didn’t get.

I don’t know what to say Rama. All I can tell you is you were too young to have been on amiodarone. In fact you are too young now to be on amiodarone, even in 1996 this is unacceptable.
In regards to the EP study, we try to give sedation to minimize the effects of pacing. The catheters are placed in several areas in the heart. Typical for simple Programmed electrical stimulation, two locations are enough. Namely in the right ventricle and in the right atrium. The same catheters can be repositioned either in the apex or the septum of the heart during induction.
The EP study has its limitations. We can induce ventricular fibrillation in anyone if we pace fast enough. For it to be meaningful, certain criteria have to be met.
Are you left handed? Why did they want to implant on the right? Did they implant a single chamber at the time?
I like your post, I am still reading it. I realize the section on sarcoidosis is from 1996. I apologize for writing now about it if this brings unpleasant memories. I also don’t mean to make it like I know it all. It is just upsetting to me the choices that were made by some physicians. It pains me for anybody, and I care about you Rama, which makes it more upsetting.
